EEUA participates in ERACON, Cyprus

April 28 - May 02, 2014, EEUA Universities Marketing and Relations Manager attended the reputed ERACON conference (ERASMUS Congress and Exhibition 2014) held under the patronage of Mrs Androulla Vassiliou, Member of the European Commission".

ERACON is a big networking activity between EU and Non-EU Universities for the promotion of new exchanges. This year 400 participants gathered on Cyprus to discuss international collaboration between universities in the sphere of ERASMUS student exchange programs.

EEUA rep delivered a speech on “Universities of Eastern Europe: big picture and cooperation opportunities” explaining the main issues and opportunities in setting up collaboration with CIS unis. The report was extremely successful with more than 50 participants attending the presentation.

Many universities were interested to know when Russian universities would be included in ErasmusPlus. EEUA rep explained that according to the officialinformation the list of countries-participants of the programme will be revised in September 2014 and Russia may be included in the list.

In the meantime Russian universities may offer direct cooperation between universities in the form of bilateral agreements on students and tutors exchange, joint grant applications, dual and joint degrees etc.). Many universities from different countries expressed their interest in these opportunities.

It’s worth noting that the universities of Cyprus were incredibly open and hospitable which made the event a truly unique one. Special credits should be given to Mr Gregory Makridez – Chair of the University of Cyprus and Dr Sotos C.Voskarides who made everything possible for successful conference organization.

Last but not least it should be said that in frame of our report EEUA presented the partial results of our own breakthrough research called "Internationalisation of HE on the territory of CIS countries", which aroused enormous interest among the attending universities.

EEUA will continue participation in ERACON in the years to come as this is an excellent opportunity to connect with a great number of universities and establish fruitful collaboration.
