July 06-07 EEUA representative visited the capital city of Shandong Province – Jinan. Shandong Province is situated in the eastern part of China, has the population of almost 96 mln people and is famous for its outstanding cuisine which mainly contains sea products. The area of present-day Jinan has played an important role in the history of the region from the earliest beginnings of civilization and has evolved into a major national administrative, economic, and transportation hub.

There are 18 universities and colleges in the city where more than 200,000 students are studying. Among the 200+ research institutes in the city, 10 are national laboratories.

EEUA paid a visit to Study Abroad Center of Shandong Province Education Department, as well as to Shandong University of Finance and Economics. The parties discussed possible ways of cooperation with Russian universities, available courses, student exchange programs etc.

July 07 with the support of our partner EEUA conducted two seminars on education in Russian state universities. The seminars took place in Shen County Liaocheng Disctrict where the biggest number of secondary schools teaching Russian language is located.

Together with our partners from Shandong Education Committee, EEUA made PPT presentations about studying in Russia and introduced the students to the system of education, courses, mediums of instruction, facilities and expenses, as well as general information about the cities.

Overall seminar audience amounted to 400 high school students who showed keen interest both  in Russia as a country and in higher education in Russian universities.

By and large, the students were interested in Arts and Humanities, Engineering, Music, Economics etc. We were pleasantly surprised that a great number of students have expressed their wish to study in Russian language.

Russian universities can already boast a large number of foreign students from China on their campuses but the efforts are still being taken to attract more and more prospective students from the world’s most populous country!
