December 15 EEUA representatives visited Hebei Tangshan Foreign Language School  (河北唐山外国语学校) located in the north-east of China in the city Tangshan, not far from the nation’s capital.

Hebei Tangshan Foreign Language School is rightly considered one of the biggest in this area as at present it counts 3800 students and 350 highly qualified teachers. The school offers study of English, Russian, Korean and Japanese languages and is engaged in various student exchange programs with students from Russia, Republic of Belarus, Great Britain, USA, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. Moreover the school is actively developing international collaboration and partnership which implies recruitment of foreign teachers, namely from Russia, Belarus, Australia and Japan.

The visit to the school consisted of 2 parts starting with meeting with the school administration: School Head, Mr Wang Ruixin and Deputy Director for International Relations - Liu Min. We would like to express special thanks to Maksim Korneev and Cui Shuhun - Russian language teachers of HTFLS who provided significant support in the organization and implementation of the meeting. The school administration and EEUA representative discussed the possibility to hold student Olympiads in mathematics and Russian language on the premises of this school. The winners of the Olympiads will have the opportunity to go to study in Russia for free. It is planned to hold the Olympiads in frame of the project «StudyInRussia». In addition EEUA also informed about the possibility to study in Russia in English language.

The second part of the visit included direct meeting with the students studying Russian language, presentation about Russian universities and the advantages of obtaining higher education in Russia. EEUA described the Admission process and the initial steps to file an application to the Russian universities, showed several videos about Russian cities. The presentation awoke immense interest among the young students who keenly commented on the famous Russian sights shown on the screen, e.g. monuments of A.S. Pushkin, Peter the Great, the military ship Aurora, Red Square, the Kremlin etc.

We sincerely hope the future joint holding of the academic Olympiads among the students of Hebei Tangshan Foreign Language School will help to further develop students’ interest in studying in Russia. We will be very glad to see the students from Hebei Tangshan Foreign Language School and other Chinese schools among the students of Russian universities.
