May 24-29, 2015, EEUA came to US for its annual participation in the largest higher education conference – NAFSA. This year in Boston, Massachusetts, NAFSA once again proved an excellent opportunity to meet thousands of educators from different countries and develop new rewarding partnerships. EEUA team consisted of 4 delegates, each having full schedule, with appointments coming every 30 minutes. EEUA conducted meetings with universities from US, Canada, France, China, Korea, Japan, Mexico, Spain etc. A lot of universities passed by EEUA stand to say hello, some of them former IUNC participants, some – just old friends from previous NAFSA and EAIE conferences.
Under the inspiring conference theme - New Horizons in International Education– educators could enjoy a wide variety of workshops and parallel sessions dedicated to different aspects of international education, for instance a particularly interesting report was made on the high school certificate recognition of students coming from Donetsk region which used to be Ukraine.
After the sessions and meetings with other universities EEUA stand organized Russian Reception serving various traditional Russian delicatesses, such as vodka, pickled cucumbers, herring, mushrooms, brown bread, boubliks etc. All NAFSA participants were welcome to try the refreshments and take part in the merry little competitions and quizes organized by EEUA team. Naturally the winners were rewarded with traditional Russian souvenirs - Russian scarfs, Vodka bottles, Budenovka, and obviously the famous Matreshkas! All participants greatly enjoyed the competitions and most importantly - became familiar with Russian cultureand traditions. All participants were awarded with honourary badges of "Expert in Russian language and Culture".
All in all, our participation in NAFSA helped us to significantly enlarge professional network and develop great number of new fruitful partnerships. We are extremely glad that so many foreign universities take genuine interest in cooperation with Russian universities and the country as a whole.
