EEUA Team participated in NAFSA 2017 (Los Angeles, CA, USA)
In May, the EEUA Team took part in NAFSA 2017 Annual Conference and Expo, which this year took place in Los Angeles, CA. Every year we travel to USA to present The Global Series of IUNC Conferences at the largest International HigherEd event. We are pleased that every year NAFSA gives us a good opportunity to meet all our partners and establish new contacts with leading universities, agencies and service-providers from all over the world.
During the 4 days of the conference EEUA Team conducted about 120 meetings with universities from US, Argentina, Spain, Hong Kong, Italy, Australia, India, Portugal, France, UK, Costa Rica, Panama, Chile, Norway, Mexico, Korea, Canada, Sweden, the Netherlands, Peru, Malaysia, Israel, Hungary, Turkey, New Zealand, Denmark. In addition to this many HEIs just passed by IUNC`s booth to say hello. NAFSA is a place for us where we meet so many amazing people: new and old friends, IUNC supporters and partners from different parts of the world.
As a landmark for this year participation, we wish to highlight a strong interest of universities from Latin America to partnership with Russia and CIS institutions. The half of all meetings we conducted were with the representatives of South America.
At the appointments, we discussed the inter-university cooperation with universities of Russia & CIS, institutions of USA & Latin America as well as the university networking on a global scale. Almost all institutions are interested in university cooperation development (student/faculty exchanges, dual degrees, joint research programs, etc).
Those universities, which are interested in the partnership with Russia, expressed their desire to visit Moscow to participate in the 7th Annual IUNC Eurasia 2018 conference and meet local universities next May. Latin American educators were really impressed with the opportunities of the networking and personal reaching out provided by the IUNC Eurasia conference. They stressed that it is very important for them to meet potential partner universities of Russia in person (at one-to-one meetings) and discuss possible ways of cooperation.
The HEIs, looking for cooperation with both Americas, showed a keen interest to IUNC Americas 2017. The majority of the insitutions mentioned the convenient dates and place of the conference, it will be arranged in Miami, FL, USA (Dec 4-6, 2017), because it gives them the option to attend several significant HigherEd events during one trip. IUNC Americas 2017 will be held back to back with AIRC Annual Conference (Dec 6 - 9, 2017) and ICEF Miami Workshop (Dec 11-13, 2017). In addition to this, they
As usual, IUNC Team brought to USA some Russian Traditional Souvenirs. All partners got a Russian gift spoon – handmade and hand-painted with Khokhloma. Khokhloma is the name of a Russian traditional wood painting handicraft style and national ornament, known for its vivid flower patterns, red and gold colors over a black background. Everyone was very surprised and excited about this little present, especially people, who left Russia and immigrated. Each event which we attend abroad is a good chance for IUNC Team to tell foreign people about Russian history and culture as well as to attract attention to Russia as a strategic partner in HigherEd.
Our annual participation in NAFSA 2017 gave us the opportunity to make sure that university cooperation is one of the most important aspects of the HigherEd Internationalization and that IRO professionals need specific platforms for networking and further dialogue developing such as IUNC conferences.
