Vitebsk State Medical University joined the Eastern European Universities Association
Bogdan Voronovsky, Director General of the Eastern European Universities Association (EEUA), visited Vitebsk State Medical University (Belarus), which recently became a member of the Association. During the visit the prospects of cooperation and strategies for attracting foreign students were discussed.
About VSMU
Vitebsk State Medical University (VSMU), which is one of the leading medical universities in Belarus, has officially joined the family of Eastern European Universities Association. VSMU is known for the high quality of medical education and enjoys great popularity among foreign applicants.
EEUA & VSMU Cooperation Plans
Within the framework of the new partnership the EEUA will develop cooperation with the countries of Africa, Latin America and Asia, helping the university to expand international interuniversity ties and diversify the flow of foreign students. At the moment, the university welcomes around 500 students from abroad each year, which is an impressive figure.
VSMU`s Geographic Priorities
Although VSMU already attracts a significant number of international students, the EEUA plans to focus on attracting students from countries that have little or no presence at the university. Emphasis will be placed on the countries of Latin America, Africa (Uganda, Rwanda, Ghana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania), as well as some Asian countries (Pakistan, Bangladesh, India).
Recognition of VSMU`s Achievements
Bogdan Voronovsky expressed his deep gratitude to the Rector of Vitebsk State Medical University, the team of the International Department, leading departments and teachers recognizing the university`s achievements and significant contribution to the Higher Education of Belarus. VSMU is developing an outstanding educational process which provides foreign student with high quality education, engages them in both academic and extracurricular activities, and inspires them by best practices.
“We will attract more international students to the university, and pay special attention to the countries that are not yet represented among the students of VSMU”, - Mr Voronovsky, General Director of EEUA, said.
