Students’ Culture Palace

Perm State University students have access to their very own ‘culture palace’ named ‘Academia’. It is considered one of the best of its kind in Russia, with hundreds of talented students gathering there every day. This includes not only Perm University students, but students from elsewhere in Russia and abroad.

There is a great range of cultural events and performances based in the culture palace. Productions of international plays, ranging from French to Iranian, are performed regularly. You can emerge yourself in street-art festivals, or if this is not your cup of tea there are many academic choral performances to enjoy. Remember that performances are not only for your viewing, but for your participation as well! Students are highly recommended to get stuck in and become part of life in the culture palace, whether that be as a stage-hand, a singer, a drummer, or a lighting director. There are endless possibilities!

The culture palace is home to dancing and singing classes as well as its own media studio, where students can make short films or carry out photo-shoots. Our magnificent grand concert hall holds over 700 people, and is considered one of the best student concert halls in Russia. A very rich variety of plays are rehearsed and performed year-round in our separate theatre hall.

Our many clubs and art workshops bring out the talents of our students and help them realise their potential! Academia is home to a pop music vocal school, an academic student choir, various bands, dance groups, and training in acting and play production, amongst many others!

The artistic groups of the university are winners of prestigious Russian-wide competitions. In 2013 our students won the grand prize in the Russian-wide “Students’ Spring of Drama” festival.

For many students the culture palace is far more than a place to express themselves. It is a place to make great friends with people who share your interests, and who knows, you might even find love!

Academia is home to the most unexpected and professional artistic projects. All students are welcomed to become the view and not the viewer, so get stuck in!
